== Biography == <SPAN STYLE="font-size: larger;">Artist, writer and hacker currently thriving in Peterborough, England.</SPAN> [http://www.facebook.com/people/Rob-Myers/509074654 Rob Myers on Facebook] Associated with the Free Culture Movement, and co-author of the book FLOSS+Art: Free, Libre, Open Source Software + Art. Sol Lewitt is most closely associated with the minimal and conceptual art movements. == Generative Art Connections == Greatly influenced by Paul Thayer. He is a hardcore programmer, and creates tools for making generative art, namely [http://rob-art.sourceforge.net Rob-Art]. He often uses computers to make picture art, or code art. Other tools are for graphics, like Minara - Programmable Graphics Program Editor. His programs will either make images with abstract designs and maybe have a social connection, and sometimes can be purely social or code based. Here's a summary of his points taken from his chapter in FLOSS+art where he tells the reader how to take an ethical and social stance against censorious restrictions that threaten to harm art's continued freedom by applying the Lessons of Free Software to Art: * Protect artistic freedom from censorship * Campaign to oppose extension of copyright or trademark law, and the reduction of fair use. * Use copyleft licensing to ensure the free circulation of ideas * Use collaborative project management * Produce work to show the value of fair use and the public domain * Use Free Software and free or 'open' file formats, and help drive the improvement of them == Generative Works == All images are available on his website.
