__FORCETOC__
Math art is typically the pursuit of mathematically inclined individuals with a particular interest in the visualization of mathematical objects and relationships. Some math art is rather literal such as, for example, functions graphed with a computer application such as Mathematica.  More often practitioners strive for a highly estheticized presentation, and occasionally the mathematical origins of the work may only be suggestive or metaphorical.

Math art works are frequently generative or borderline generative.  It's worth noting that artists outside of the math art genre have frequently used mathematics as the basis for everything from perspective drawing to conceptual art.

:The formal basis for concepts from probability, statistics, and the study of stochastic processes is deeply mathematical.  While chance operations are seldom found in math art, they are a mainstay of generative art in general.
