complexism
New Research Area
Complexism is a worldview that addresses the subject matter of the arts and humanities, and is inspired by a scientific understanding of complex systems.
Complexism involves the extension of the worldview suggested by complexity science into the problem space of the arts and humanities. In doing so complexism provides a higher synthesis that subsumes both modern and postmodern concerns, attitudes, and activities. Complexism provides an intellectual meeting ground where 20th century conflicts between science and the humanities can be reconciled.

This is a new area of research for me, and it is a spin-off of my work in art theory. I introduce and explain the term "complexism" in Complexism and evolutionary art. (This is the full chapter from The Art of Artificial Evolution edited by Juan Romero and Penousal Machado, and published as part of the Springer Natural Computing Series. A short introduction is also available on the Springer site here.)

My plan of attack is to write small draft modules and to present them in my Complexism Blog. At a later date I will organize these modules into a larger, more refined, work.

(Note: I've discovered that the term "complexism" is also used by those in the homeopathy community. That usage is unrelated to mine.)
